Starting January 1st participants will track their yardage for the entire month to see who can "jam" the most yards into 31 days.
The January Jam was created to promote fitness through swimming while raising money for the Dave Parcells MS Fund. All donations, both entry and sponsorship, go to patients and families through the St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation to help with expenses not covered by insurance as they undergo treatment for Multiple Sclerosis, in honor of Dave Parcells.
Participants submit and or save their swim workouts each day. Cumulative yardage will be tabulated for each swimmer based on their saved workouts during the month of January. During the month the results will be updated in real time on the web site. Participants will also be able to look up their current total as well as view their progress against other participants around the world. In addition there will be tables illustrating the participation for age groups.

If you have family or friends who wish to donate but not participate in the "January Jam - MS Plunge for Parcells", they could send a check payable to "St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation" at the address listed below. Note: please specify in the memo field of the check if the donation is given on behalf of a JAM participant or in honor of an MS patient and/or family.

Corporate matching gifts are an easy way for participants to increase the impact of their personal contributions to the St Vincent's Medical Center Dave Parcells MS Fund. St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation - Swim Across the Sound is a qualified charitable organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Awards will be given to top finishers in each age group: ages 18 - 24, 25 - 79+ in five-year increments, ages 12 - 17 in two-year increments. Age group will be determined by your age on January 31st.
Caution: Use caution when attempting to improve your fitness level. Increases in yardage should be gradual over an extended period of time.
