MS is not going to kill me. It does, however, make my life slightly more aggravating. And for that I consider myself pretty lucky. Because the aggravating stuff reminds me to do the following:
Those are all pretty cool things, and I'm glad I have a constant reminder to practice them.
Insurance companies are particularly fond of providing new opportunities for personal growth. My husband's employer switched plans at the end of the summer and I was denied the medication I needed for several months while the new company reviewed my case. The pain, tremors, fatigue, dizziness and weakness that are the hallmarks of my MS returned. I was pretty sick for a couple of months and couldn't swim. Happy ending: my meds were approved and I'm in the pool again.
My dream for the MS Plunge for Parcells is that we can raise enough money to provide creative assistance for MS patients. Whether it's a gap in insurance coverage, help with a co-pay, handicap accessible van rides, yoga or acupuncture ... there are so many small things we can do to smooth out the rough edges of someone's day.
