Hey Dean.
We did good. The race was awesome! I can definitely see how this can be addicting. Christine and I had such a blast! It wasn’t as intimidating as I thought it would be.
Unfortunately, the swim was canceled due to the rough conditions so I ended up doing a Duathlon. The run is definitely my weakest leg(s) of the race, however I did learn that biking is one of my strongest.
The first run I did very well (2 miles). Then the bike I did GREAT. I passed a lot of people. But by the 2nd run, everyone I passed on the bike—passed me on the run! I could have gone faster—but I’m not used to running in the sand and my left leg felt as if it might give out. So I was being careful so I could finish. Towards the end of the run, I picked up the pace to the finish.
We had so much fun! I really enjoyed it. Now my son Michael wants to start training for a tri. He was my biggest fan out there cheering me on! :-)
Great Job, Judi, Christine and Lori!
CONGRATS!!! To all three! Judi, was this your first? Way to go! Hope to see you all at the Ormond Tri end of May.
Thank you. Yes, it was but the tri became a Duathlon. Thanks to Christine for encouraging me and helping me set-up my transition area, it wasn't quite as daunting as I thought. And Amy for all her advice, encouragement and lending me her racebelt. Thanks girls! And the team--you guys are the best!
I've decided not to do the Tri Y because I'm swimming all five days of the "Binge Swim Training Bender" and thought swimming 2.5 hours immediately following the race would be a little insane. Even for me. I wish you all GOOD LUCK and hopefully see you at the next tri--Beaches Fine Arts Tri #2 in Jax, June 9th.
Diane, when are you going to come swim with us again? We miss you!
I'm still prohibited from the sun. I will be getting in the pool next week (indoor pool at the Gym) for the first time in two months.
I will head out to swim again with you guys - I miss all of you!! Maybe I'll see you the 9th. Have a great time with the "Binge Swimming". Sounds great. Soon....
