Judi Rich, Amy Britton, and Scott Bay had a great weekend with Gary Hall jr. at the Speed Enhancement and Racing Strategy Clinic. Here's a photo of Gary and Scott.
How was the clinic? What kind of advice did he offer?
Sorry it took me so long to post this. Betweeen work and school I don't have much time. The Clinic was very good.
Starts- Track start is the fastest.
When on the block pull block toward chest for forward momentum into water. The dive is stright into the water and getting to the surface quickly to start your stroke.
Dolpin kick off dive and wall only if you have a good dolphin kick if not kick free.
Gary also did running and diving into to the pool to practice streamline.
Free- He did not ratate hands on water entry. The catch was emphasized. As well as body rotation and we did a coulpe of drill for this.
Bakestroke- We did a drill where we were trying to keep one arm over head at all times. So you were unable to fully complete the stroke. To work on turn over rather than trying to muscle the finish portion of the stroke.
Fly- We were encouraged to breathe every stroke to the side rather than forward.
They emphasized boxing for core strength and aerobic conditioning as well as stretching for flexability.
